A bowl for drinking matcha or coffee or hot chocolate from. Small enough to fit in your hand, big enough to dip a croissant into.
It seems that at one time we all drank from bowls, ceramic or timber and it was only in the eighteenth century that handles were finally added to make cups. And yet there is something so comforting in drinking from a bowl, especially timber because it insulates and allows the heat to just gently warm your hands.
I turn my bowls by hand from locally sourced timber on a foot powered Pole Lathe with leaves a lovely tactile finish.
Finished in my food safe Tung oil, a tradional finish for timber that is to contain liquid. Simply hand wash and dry after use and re-oil occasionally with a foodsafe oil if the timber looks a little dry.
The bowl is 12.5 cm diameter x 4 cm high (5 x 1 1/2 inches) approx.
